Don L. Lin, Ph.D.
Don is the founder and principal of Aurora
Consulting Engineering. Prior to founding Aurora, Don worked in the
transit industry with Kawasaki Rail Car Inc. in Yonkers, NY. His primary
responsibility was in the areas of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and
bench test equipment (BTE). He developed EMC plan, test procedures and test
reports as well as managing all field tests for R143 and R160 railcars of
NYC Transit Authority and the commuter train of Massachusetts Bay Transit
Authority. His BTE work ensured quality design and timely
delivery/commissioning of qualified test equipment to maintenance centers of

reliability engineering and qualification of leading edge optical
Don spent the greater part of his career working
at the prestigious Bell Laboratories. He started in the field of system
engineering and planning for AT&T's Integrated Services Digital Network in
Holmdel, NJ and moved on to the reliability engineering of microelectronics
in the technical areas of electromagnetic compatibility and electrostatic
discharges in Murray Hill, NJ. Finally, he transferred to the Princeton
location of Bell Labs to join the Test and Reliability Center of Excellence
in the Engineering Research Center, focusing on the product testing and
reliability engineering for Lucent Technologies Inc.
Don holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Columbia
University and is a graduate of National Taiwan University in Taipei. He
holds four US patents and has published over 40 scientific and engineering papers.
